Tidy Thames Ā£30,000
This vessel is an iconic barge on the River Thames, it was built at the Engelen Van Landeghem shipyard in Buggenhout Belgium, and shortened to work as a river freight barge. It was originally called Rosette and then Adma and sold in 1989 and brought to London. It has been reliably servicing the thames for 35 years, and notably was the first boat to carry recycling from the city. As a commercial working boat it has been designed to be versatile and easy to handle with a 5T forward grabber crane for lifting from the large freight hold which has an internal steel floor plate.
There is good perimeter access around the cargo hold and forward and aft of the boat. The forward compartment is accessed via a ladder and there are 2 further port and starboard aluminium lifting access hatches to access the hold.
Access to the accommodation is from the timber wheelhouse to the wood lined aft saloon which leads to the aft cabin and head. Natural light is provided by deck lights and side windows.
The engine room is located below the saloon and is accessed from the starboard side of the wheelhouse at deck level. The propulsion system comprises of a Gardiner 6 LXB coupled to a twin disk gear box, it is well maintained and has full service records from Thames Engineering.
These types of barge are very popular for houseboat conversions. Characterful profile with back story and heritage are key ingredients to making amazing homes on boats. The proportions of the hold provide for spacious living quarters and the existing opening to the deck can incorporate large roof lights.
